Transport
Vehicles for the waters and the air, for rails and roads

Relying on originals and historical models, the "Transport" exhibition of the Technisches Museum conveys an idea of navigation and aviation as well as of the essence and the historical development of railroads and vehicles for road traffic.
The presented objects illustrate technological improvements and changes: the cycle propelled by its rider paddling his feet against the ground gradually became the "safety bike"; the Puch 125, known as the "mailman's moped," was also a celebrated racing machine; and the Mercedes "Silberpfeil" will certainly strike the visitor as an impressive world champion automobile.

A story is linked with many of the exhibits: the imperial saloon car used by Empress Elisabeth and the steam engine "Gmunden" with its summer car, for example, outline what traveling by train was about in the 19th century. Other objects are again inseparably associated with their inventors, such as the Etrich-Taube (the Etrich "Dove") with the aviation pioneer Igo Etrich or the ship's propeller with Josef Ressel.
